Culture in Charleroi

Charleroi is a beautiful city with rich history and culture. Due to being located in the Wallonia, Charleroi’s culture is deeply influenced by the French culture and history. But it doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have its own independent culture to show itself.

Charleroi is home to many cinemas, where even the biggest fans of movies will find something for themselves. Cinemas’ schedules are very diverse and adjusted to local viewers, so while looking at the currently screening movies, there’s a huge chance that you’ll find something just for you. While most of the movies are screened in French, some of them will have options to view them in English with French subtitles or other language options.   


Charleroi is a very cultural city, so libraries are expected. And in this marvellous place, you’ll find plenty of them, if you know where to look for them. Their book assortment ranges pretty widely, as well. Looking through the shelves, you can find both new, freshly published books as well as old classics that have been kept on those shelves for years!
