How to move with your plants

Plants are elements that can transform the face of any interior. Their beautiful appearance is often the result of proper care and time spent on them – so it’s no wonder that many people become attached to their plants. While facing a removal, a riddle arises: what to do to ensure that the specimens we have grown arrive safely at the new place? If the above question has been echoing in your head for a long time, this article is for you.

How to prepare plants for a move?

Moving is a complex process that often prepares many surprises along the way. For this reason, it’s not worth putting off anything until the last minute so that you can approach the ongoing problems with peace of mind.

It is a good idea to start preparing plants early enough for the move. At least two weeks to a month before the event, transplant all specimens from decorative ceramic pots to the lighter ones – plastic. It will make the transportation process simpler and protect you from unnecessary losses. Secure the plant pots properly with bubble wrap.

The stems and leaves of larger plants should be gently tied up with a string, to avoid breaking them in transit. On the other hand, you can pack smaller specimens into separate cardboard boxes, protecting them with foil and filler – for example, with rolled-up newspapers. That will protect the plant from movement and possible damage. Remember to leave the cardboard box open! Since plants are generally fragile, it is a good idea to pack them last and unpack them first.

What kind of car for transporting plants?

Transporting plants will not be challenging if you take care of the right vehicle. The most important thing is that it should be large enough and provide freedom for branches and leaves. An important piece of its equipment is also air conditioning, which will help maintain the optimal temperature inside the vehicle. If you use the services of a moving company, ask them about a car model with a window that will let some sunlight inside.

Before setting out, it’s a good idea to check the route – if it’s bumpy and full of obstacles in the form of speed bumps, it’s essential to make sure that all plants are well fastened inside the vehicle. Such prevention will ensure their trouble-free transportation to their new home.
